Two of the members, Melanie Morgan and Greg Benson, met when they discovered they lived in the very same Athens, Georgia neighborhood and shared an appreciation for a variety of music genres.  Melanie, who was just learning guitar, soon displayed a penchant for composing songs that decry social injustice and others that explore everyday topics from a unique, sometimes European angle.  Greg, meanwhile, dragged out some old chesnuts of his and began crafting some new ones.  They sang them together.  Something was missing: Dale Wechsler, whose masterful fiddling softens and enlivens songs that range in style from early sixties coffeehouse folk to RichardandLindaThompsonesque duets to Tom Waitsy rhythmic rants.  Then a bass player happened: Robert Bell, an Athens native and a stand-up guy--though he's been known to play the fretless five-string as well.  The band's mission is to make tangible the music of the soul while entertaining listeners of all ages. 
                

It Is my pleasure to join these fine people. I'm very excited to grow with this band, and look forward to the direction we find. These are some of the most welcoming musicians I've had the honor of working with. Hopefully my addition will round out the sound, providing a more finished quality.
